Inflatable balls dotted the floor. Students enjoyed juggling and kicking the balls.

Students waited in line for food.

Blow-up floaties were hung from second-floor Commons.

Inflatables decorated the halls and dining area of Commons. Students were allowed to take them home at the end of the night.

Commons blasted beach themed music at the entrance. “If you like piña coladas…..!”

Commons workers prepared bags for students to take with them, including sunglasses, inflatable beach balls, candy, and more.

Usually the new class banner is hung before parent’s weekend. This year, the new Class of 2024 banner was installed before Harvest Dinner.

Noelle Chaddock, Vice President for Diversity and Inclusion, volunteered to help decorate. They said they are impressed with how well Commons has adapted to the pandemic restrictions this fall.

Mohammad Mohammad may be the coolest cat in this kitchen.

Commons' kitchen – look at all of the spices!

Keith Pray holds a tray of breaded and fried eggplant slices. He said the dishes this year were simpler than usual and wished they could have been able to make the “fancy stuff.”

Preparations were quicker this year than normal. Chris Davis, the kitchen manager, helped finish the last few trays of green bean casserole.

Christian Langlois dumped a tray of green beans to prepare green bean casserole.

Leola Ballweber helped fill containers with cranberry sauce for students to take to-go.

Head Baker Daisy Taylor, left, and Amanda Ouellette began preparing for Harvest dinner on Tuesday. They were particularly proud of the Bobcat cupcakes and the colorful fall cookies.

Christine Schwartz said the beach theme was chosen last year – but the “Life’s a Beach” slogan for the event seemed apt for 2020.

Christine Schwartz has worked in Commons since 1998 – this is her 22nd Harvest Dinner!

Jerryanne LaPerriere volunteered to help decorate. She put up over 60 beach related signs around Commons.

Students asked workers for the food they wanted and took it to-go.

Tariq Yasin, owner of Kim’s, offers take-out options including fried rice, pad that and lo mein, among other quick meals.
